Exporting / Importing to and from the EU with DSL Global Freight

From 1st January 2021 all EU exports and imports are now subject to customs procedures. Even with a trade agreement Customs clearance is a requirement. You may already be familiar with some of the processes involved in shipping non-EU goods, but to ensure you comply with Customs regulations, please read through our checklist below.

  1. Nominate DSL Global Freight as your customs broker
    Complete our empowerment document to enable DSL Global Freight to act as your customs representative — Click here for a copy.
  2. EORI Number
    Your EORI number will be required for any customs declaration. If you haven’t already received your EORI number from HMRC — Click here.
  3. Provide a commercial invoice
    To provide us with the correct information required on a customs document please click here­­ for guidance.
  4. Apply for a deferment account
    Apply for a deferment account / common and union transit guarantee. This will allow you to better manage your VAT and duty as part of your cash flow.
